The World’s First Carbon-Positive Stadium: Al Bayt’s Sustainability Innovations
FIFA and the Organizing Committee have confirmed that the opening match of the 2022 World Cup will take place at Al Bayt Stadium November 20 with an audience of 60,000. The Al Bayt Stadium is one of the most unique stadiums in the world, blending modern design with traditional Arabic culture.
The Al Bayt Stadium is inspired by the tents used by Bedouins in the Arabian desert. The stadium’s exterior is covered in a white fabric that will help keep spectators cool in the heat of Qatar summer. The stadium’s design is also meant to represent the unity of Qatar’s people. The Al Bayt Stadium will have a capacity of 60,000 spectators and is scheduled to host the opening match and final match of the World Cup.
